I am first and foremost a follower of Christ. I agree with the Westminster Catechism: we were created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. I came to Tyler, TX about 10 years ago to join the staff team of Pine Cove Camps and I consider Tyler to be home. It was there that I felt drawn to ministering to women, marriages, families, and college students. In January 2012, I stepped out of my role at Pine Cove to begin counseling full time. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside of people in this way. The longer I practice, the more humbled I am by what I get to do. My husband Neil is an amazing man and, while we are by no means perfect, I count it a privilege to follow his leadership. We have been married 8 years and have 2 kiddos, Sam (4) and Elle (2). We have 2 spoiled tabby cats named Rosalie and Dora, a church that really is home, and a wonderful community around us that we couldn't imagine life without.
Education and Training
I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2011 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have the privilege of working at Alethia Counseling Center in Tyler, TX. Our supervising counselor is Chris Legg, LPC. He has been highly influential in how I counsel. Check out his website - I trust and respect him deeply.
What kind of counseling do you do?
I am what one might call a Christian therapist. I realize that even that title could bring a wide variety of ideas to your mind. Let me clarify. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and that relationship has an impact on everything I do, think, and feel. I am convinced that the Creator has much to say about creation and how it functions best and it would be virtually impossible to separate myself from my worldview. However, I do not exclusively do "Biblical counseling" nor do I exclusively offer counseling to other Christians. I believe if it is true in the world, then it belongs to God. Therefore I employ whatever techniques I find useful and tend to tailor the counseling experience to the client.
I work with families, couples, children, adolescents, and women. The issues I address include:
Grief and Loss
Coping with Divorce (especially for kiddos)
